Just couldn't resist taking these :). And so I went into the crowd. T'was quite an event. The spirit of competitiveness was both inspiring and rather disturbing as well. I mean, this is one of the process how the leaders of my country are selected.
I pray for peace and harmony and that whatever transitions that are going to take place will happen smoothly.
hey Josh, Must be in the wrong Country...my neighbourhood was so quiet, thought it was Sunday... even posters was a bare minimum, and the polling station was almost deserted of both Contesting parties.
Thanks :) Honestly though at first I did not know how their reactions will be. Quite a scary thought thinking about the what if's... But they're in the spirit so that made it easy for me, almost felt like I was welcomed.. hehe.. :)
Photography wise, she is one candidate that's quite a joy to capture. Her range of emotions and her fervor was quite interesting to watch. Btw, she won the seat...
Yes... and to think what the media [local and foreign] might have splashed in their news section if something untowards were to happen... it'll be quite a circus I presume... could have cause quite a dent on the country's image too I gather...
Thanks William :) I'll tell you something.. it was something else being in there... in the midst of the crowd.. the rousing spirit and the zeal... quite exciting and infectious too :) I wonder though, do you have any 'election' shots bro? I would love to see them and am actually looking for sites that do. I've seen hellhordes' wonderful album :)

Oh these were taken on the day of the nominations. I do have a few taken on the election day itself but they are pretty lame la.. hehe... :)
(",) great documentation!! congrats for the peaceful election bro!
Thanks Elis :). Honestly it was more then I what I had expected to capture. And that was largely due to the peaceful situations and friendly people from all the supporters from all parties. And the other I guess because I was able to interact a little bit with them; which may be just a smile or a some idle chit chat. That seemed to get people feeling comfortable. I usually do this if I sensed that they are feeling uncomfortable after seeing my camera.. hehe.. :)
Yes, thank God for the peaceful election. And now I pray for brighter future for the country and it's people, Amen... :)
Hehe.. :). As I was shooting other supporters, this guy kept giving me the 'peace' sign. He's a funny guy and seemed to be the popular one in the group. But when I went near him [actually I went a little too near.. I had to cause I was using a wide angle lens lol] he started to give me a mock warning by pointing at me like that, all the while laughing and being laughed at by his friends.. hehe.. :).

hi josh, interesting set! good documentation released timely and probably one of the precious documentation as this election marked the change unprecedented in Malaysian political history. Some of the candidates of the National Coalition party would probably weep seeing the spirit of their supporters (for the benefits of our foreign contacts - the National Coalition party has the blue flag). Overall good works. Regards, Chiam

Wow.. thanks bro. Never did quite see it that way... kinda like documenting a tiny part of history [albeit covering just one area which could hardly constitute as representative of the whole election] as this particular election was unlike the previous one. I see that now ;-).
For many years I felt the same.. well, not exactly 'creeps' but something like that. Let's just say, being there, I had somewhat change my perceptions. That always is the case, at least for me.. I mean having all this misconceptions and then later on finding out that most are not as I've perceived :)
Did not manage to capture as it was a very passive one over at my place.
Still figuring out which close up lens to get.
Well, perhaps next time bro :). Take a look out especially during the 'Penamaan calon' ;-) About the lens, well, when I bought mine, for me the deciding factor was more financial rather then what it can offer. I knew I had to give up something and will have to deal with limitations. So I have to deal with that and had find it rather stimulating to work with what I have and try to overcome whatever shortcomings I faced from using that lens :).
